Marin Piano Studio’s quest is to make piano lessons meaningful, engaging and inspiring to students, and something that they truly LOVE having as part of their lives. To further that goal, students may elect to join a Piano Club, picking from 4 current Club options:
Sight-Reading Superstars Club - Learn the secrets of sight-reading! Take a piece you’ve never seen before and be able to play it and amaze your family and friends! We’ll be using apps (such as PianoMaestro), engaging books, and fun-to-play sheet music to skyrocket students into Sight-Reading Superstars!
Creative Composers - Want to learn to write your own music? This creative club will show you how. We’ll start from very easy, beginning steps. You’ll be amazed at your own musical creations!
Innovative Improvisers Club - Want to be able to improvise on the spot? We’ll start from fun, beginning steps, learning how to improvise. You’ll be amazed at your own musical creations!
Game Club - for students who can’t get enough of our Studio Games! Come by and play with other students!
How do the Piano Clubs work?
Piano Clubs will take place during the 3 Group Lessons weeks during the year. On Group Lessons days, students will arrive on their regular lesson day, but instead of their regular lesson, they will participate with a group of students in fun Club activities to encourage deep learning, engagement and friendships. Group Lessons are scheduled on the following lesson days:
September 27, 28, 29
January 24, 25, 26
May 23, 24, 25
Given time, students may work during their regular lessons on their favorite club topic - we’ll cover the next steps, students will receive help and directions, and get inspired. Students will, then, spend a portion of their Music Lab time (after their music lab assignments are completed) to “play” with their club topics! Does your child want to join more than one club? No problem! Students could, in “theory”, spend the entire after-school afternoon, here, on Group Lesson days. One word of caution: students should only enroll into the clubs about which they are truly passionate and eager to learn. It defeats the purpose (and makes it not fun for the other students) if they are stuck doing something that they don’t find engaging. Please make sure to get your child’s buy-in to the clubs before signing them up!
If you student elects not to join a club, no problem! We will have a One Minute Club beginning in January that happens during lessons - it takes just one minute! At this special club, students are challenged to identify and play as many flashcards (showing different notes written on the staff, or keys on the keyboard - great for all student levels!) as they can in one minute.
Piano Clubs - interesting and engaging for students - bring piano lessons and the love of music even closer into students' hearts!
